Paintography Leaf Photos. The simple leaf is one of natures greatest creations. The leaf is a complete natural power station that collectively they produce all of the power a great tree needs to grow. This power is produced from sunlight by a process called photosynthesis. Lots of leaves can also store food and water for the tree for times of drought.

Colorful Leaves. We all enjoy looking and photographing the fall colors that the tree produces by shedding it's leaves in the autumn all of those beautiful reds and oranges.

Join me on Google Plus for #LeafOnThursday and post your leaf photos to the G+ community.

Photographing The Leaves.

Photography Tips. Photographing Leaves. Don't do it in the midday sun. Bright sunshine will destroy your ability to get good colorful flower shots by washing out the lighter colors like yellows and whites. In fact it will fade all pastel colors. Early morning and evening or on cloudy days are best times.

Macro Photography. They say leaf photography is macro photography well maybe it is sometimes  a macro lens will certainly help in getting real up close but just about any lens will do the job. I like my Sony 70x300mm zoom for leaf photography as it gets me up close if I want to be and also allows wider shooting. Shoot on non windy days is best so the leaf stays still.

Get Better Photos. Try blurring out the background by using the smaller f-numbers like f2.8 to f5.6. Try and shoot into the shadow areas, I mean get a dark background and expose for the lighter leaf use Exposure Compensation of -1 and -2 for deeper colors and to help darken the background.
