Spider Webs at Dawn in the Everglades.
Spider Webs.
In the Florida Everglades, there are lots of Spiders around spinning their silken threads on the flowers,
trees and plants. Some of the silken webs are very small and so fine as to
be invisible to the human eye, some span 15 feet or more.
Silken Webs.
It is estimated that there may be as many as 20,000 spiders to every acre of
land in the Everglades and at dawn it looks like the ground is one big web
as the silken strands are everywhere. The subtropical climate promotes a great diversity of
spider species some native and some visitors that decided to stay. Not all
spiders spin webs some live in burrows like the Wolf Spiders and Jumping
Spiders.
Photographing The Spiders.
Photography Tips.
Photographing Spider webs is a great experience, dawn is the best
time if there has been a heavy dew during the night. The sparkling dew drops make the
webs stand out in the dawns golden light. A macro or macro zoom lens is
needed. Keep to around f5.6 or less to get a blurry background. Be very
patient with your focusing as this will make or break your pictures, always use manual
focus and look all around the webs for the best light and angles.
